Bulk Voice Call in Bangladesh: Pricing, Rules, and How to Run Your First Campaign

How bulk voice calling works in Bangladesh, what it costs per call, what to record, when to send, and the mistakes that get campaigns ignored.

By the IPCallBD team. Published

A bulk voice call is the simplest outbound campaign there is: you record a message once, upload a list of numbers, and every customer’s phone rings with your message. No agent, no app, no reading. In Bangladesh it is used for Eid greetings, payment reminders, delivery updates, admission announcements, and election-season outreach. This guide covers how it works, what it costs, and how to run one that people actually listen to.

How bulk voice calling works

  1. You record an audio message: yourself, or a voice artist.
  2. You upload a list of phone numbers (CSV or Excel).
  3. The platform places the calls automatically from your business number.
  4. When a customer answers, the recording plays. If they don’t answer, the system can retry later.
  5. You get a report: answered, not answered, busy, failed.

With IPCallBD the calls go out from your own 096 corporate number, so customers see a number they can call back, and if they do, they reach your Cloud PBX and your team.

What it costs

Pricing for bulk voice in Bangladesh is quoted in confusing units (per 29-second pulse, per 30 seconds, per minute, per call). Here is IPCallBD’s, in plain terms:

  • Platform fee: ৳250 per month for the Bulk Voice Call service (scheduling, reports, API).
  • Call charges: the normal rate, 35 paisa + 15% VAT per minute, billed per second. You pay only for the seconds the customer actually listened.
  • Unanswered calls: no charge: the call never connected.

Worked example

You send a 25-second Eid offer to 5,000 customers, and 3,800 of them answer.

  • Listened seconds: 3,800 × 25 = 95,000 seconds = 1,583 minutes
  • Call charge: 1,583 × ৳0.35 = ৳554
  • VAT at 15%: ৳83
  • Total call cost: about ৳637, plus the ৳250 monthly fee

That is roughly 17 paisa per customer reached. Compare that with printing 5,000 flyers.

Shorter messages cost proportionally less; a 15-second reminder to the same list is about ৳440.

What to record

The message is the campaign. Everything else is logistics.

  • Keep it under 30 seconds. People decide in the first three seconds whether to keep listening. Say who you are immediately.
  • Lead with the benefit, then the action. “Eid-er jonno Bikash Fashion-e 30% chhar. Order korte call korun 09649-111303.” Not a paragraph of history first.
  • Record in the language your customers use. For most Bangladeshi consumer lists that is Bangla. For B2B lists, a short English or mixed message is fine.
  • Use a real, warm voice. A professional voice artist recording costs ৳150 through our caller tune service and sounds far better than a phone memo. If you record yourself, do it in a quiet room, 20 cm from the mic.
  • End with one clear next step. A number to call, a shop to visit, or “reply YES by SMS”. Not three options.

When to send

  • Weekdays, 11 AM – 1 PM or 4 PM – 7 PM work best for consumer lists in Bangladesh. Avoid prayer times and the early morning.
  • Fridays: send after 3 PM or not at all.
  • Reminders: send the day before the due date, and again on the morning of.
  • Eid campaigns: send 5–7 days before Eid, when people are planning purchases, not on Eid day.

Schedule the send in the portal rather than clicking “send now” at an awkward hour.

Rules and etiquette

Bangladesh does not have a single “do not call” registry for voice campaigns, but there are rules you should follow anyway, both because the regulator can act on complaints, and because annoyed customers block numbers.

  • Only call people who have a relationship with you: customers, members, parents, leads who gave you their number. Bought lists get complaints.
  • Identify your business in the first sentence. Anonymous calls are the ones people report.
  • Don’t call before 9 AM or after 9 PM.
  • Honour opt-outs. If someone asks not to be called, remove them from the list. Keep the list clean.
  • Use your real business number as the caller ID. IPCallBD sends from your registered 096 number, which is both legal and good for callbacks.

Bulk voice vs SMS vs Voice SMS

Bulk SMS Voice SMS Bulk Voice Call
How it arrives Text message A phone call with your recording A phone call with your recording
Gets noticed Often ignored or filtered High: the phone rings High: the phone rings
Works on feature phones Yes Yes Yes
Bangla without font issues Sometimes a problem Yes, it’s audio Yes, it’s audio
Monthly fee (IPCallBD) , None: pay per call ৳250
Scheduling, reports, API , Basic Full
Best for Links, OTPs, receipts A handful of important messages Campaigns to hundreds or thousands

If you send fewer than a few hundred messages a month, Voice SMS with no platform fee may be enough. See our Voice SMS vs bulk SMS comparison for more detail.

Automating with the API

If reminders come from your own software (an ERP, a school management system, an e-commerce backend), the REST API lets you trigger a call for each event: order shipped, fee due, appointment tomorrow. Your developer sends the number and the recording ID; the platform places the call and returns the delivery status. Ask us on WhatsApp for the API document.

Launch checklist

  • List is from your own customers, duplicates removed
  • Message under 30 seconds, business named in the first line, one call to action
  • Recording tested on a phone speaker, not just headphones
  • Send time scheduled for a weekday late morning or late afternoon
  • Someone is ready to answer callbacks on the business number
  • Report checked the same evening; non-answers scheduled for a retry

FAQ

How many calls can a bulk voice campaign send?

Thousands per campaign. Calls go out in parallel, so a 5,000-number list typically completes within an hour or two depending on answer rates and retries.

Can I see who answered?

Yes. The report shows each number’s status (answered, no answer, busy, failed) and the listened duration.

Can I send a different message to different groups?

Yes. Upload separate lists with separate recordings, or use the API to pick a recording per customer.

Yes, when sent from a registered business number to people who have a relationship with your business. Follow the etiquette above and respect opt-outs.

What do unanswered calls cost?

Nothing. You only pay for connected seconds.
