If you are pricing IP phones for the office, read the first section before the comparison table. A good part of the businesses that ask us about handsets do not need one, and the money is better spent on a second channel or call recording. For the rest, here are the models that work well with a Cloud PBX in Bangladesh, what they cost on the local market, and how to choose.
Do you actually need a desk phone?
An IP phone is just a SIP client in a plastic body. The same SIP account that runs the phone also runs the free Zoiper app on an Android, iPhone, or laptop, with the same business caller ID, the same extension number, and the same recordings. So the question is not “which phone” but “who in the office benefits from a handset”.
Use a softphone app (no hardware cost) when:
- Staff already carry a smartphone and move around: sales, delivery coordination, owners
- The team works from home or from several locations
- You have fewer than five people on the number
Buy a desk phone when:
- One person sits at a desk and takes calls all day: reception, a hotline agent, a dispatcher
- You want a phone that is always on, never on 3% battery, and not tied to one employee’s personal device
- The call volume is high enough that a handset and headset reduce fatigue
Many offices mix the two: a desk phone at reception, Zoiper for everyone else. The PBX does not care. Our Zoiper setup guide covers the app in ten minutes.
What to look for in a SIP phone
Every phone below works with IPCallBD. These are the features that separate a phone you like from one you tolerate:
- PoE (Power over Ethernet). The phone takes power from the network cable, so there is no adapter and it stays on during a power cut if your switch is on the UPS. Models with “P” in the name usually have it.
- Two or more SIP accounts. Lets one phone ring for two extensions, or hold a backup account.
- HD voice (G.722) and G.729. HD for clarity on good connections, G.729 to save bandwidth on weak ones.
- A headset port (RJ9 or 3.5 mm). Essential for anyone on calls more than two hours a day.
- Dual Ethernet ports. Daisy-chain the PC through the phone so you need one cable per desk.
- Backlit display with Bangla-friendly fonts. Optional, but it matters in a dim reception.
Features you can ignore for a small business: colour screens, Wi-Fi on a desk phone (cable is more reliable), Bluetooth, and video.
The comparison
Prices are approximate street prices in Dhaka in 2026 for new units from computer-market and online sellers. They move with the dollar rate, so take them as a range.
| Model | Approx. price | Accounts | PoE | Headset port | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Fanvil X303 | ৳4,500 – 5,500 | 2 | Yes (X303P) | RJ9 | Cheapest reliable desk phone; back office |
| Grandstream GRP2601P | ৳5,500 – 7,000 | 2 | Yes | RJ9 | Reception on a budget |
| Yealink SIP-T31P | ৳6,500 – 8,000 | 2 | Yes | RJ9 | The default choice; excellent audio, easy setup |
| Fanvil X3U | ৳6,500 – 8,000 | 6 | Yes | RJ9 | Gigabit ports, colour screen at a T31P price |
| Grandstream GRP2602P | ৳7,000 – 8,500 | 4 | Yes | RJ9 | Two-line reception, hotel-style |
| Yealink SIP-T33G | ৳9,500 – 12,000 | 4 | Yes | RJ9 | Supervisors, busy hotline agents, gigabit |
A few notes from setting these up for customers:
- Yealink T31P is the phone we recommend when someone asks for “just a good phone”. Audio is clearly better than the price suggests and the web interface is the simplest of the three brands.
- Fanvil gives the most features per taka. Firmware updates are a little less polished, and some units ship with an older firmware you should update on day one.
- Grandstream is the most common brand in Bangladeshi offices, so spares and local knowledge are easy to find. The GRP series is a big step up from the older GXP phones; avoid second-hand GXP1610s unless they are nearly free.
Alternatives to a desk phone
Analogue telephone adapter (ATA). A Grandstream HT801 (around ৳3,500) plugs an ordinary ৳800 analogue phone into your Cloud PBX. Useful if you already own handsets, or want a cordless analogue phone for the warehouse.
USB headset on a laptop. For a customer-service agent on Zoiper desktop, a ৳1,500 to ৳3,000 USB headset with a boom mic is more comfortable than any handset and avoids echo. This is how most home-based agents on our call centre solution work.
Wi-Fi or DECT handsets. Yealink W-series DECT phones (base plus cordless handsets, roughly ৳15,000 upwards) suit a clinic or showroom where staff walk. For a single mobile user, the Zoiper app does the same job for free.
Budget for a five-person office
| Setup | Hardware cost | Monthly |
|---|---|---|
| Everyone on Zoiper | ৳0 | ৳500 Basic plan + calls |
| Reception on a T31P, four on Zoiper | about ৳7,500 | ৳500 + calls |
| Five T31Ps + PoE switch | about ৳45,000 | ৳500 + calls |
Whatever you choose, the plan is the same: 5 extensions and 2 simultaneous channels for ৳500 a month on Basic, 10 and 5 on Pro for ৳750. Calls are 35 paisa plus VAT per minute. The number is free. See the pricing page for the full table. Compare that with the cost of a PABX box, where the hardware is the main expense.
Where to buy, and setup
Buy from a seller who gives a one-year warranty and will update the firmware before handing over. Multiplan Center, IDB Bhaban, and the larger online computer shops all stock Yealink and Grandstream; Fanvil is more common from telecom-specialist shops. We can supply phones pre-configured with your extensions if you prefer one invoice.
Setup is three fields in the phone’s web page: username, password, and the PBX domain, the same values we send for Zoiper. It takes five minutes per phone. If a phone registers but audio is one-way, set the codec order to PCMA, PCMU, then G.729, and we will check NAT settings on the PBX side.
FAQ
What is the cheapest IP phone that works well in Bangladesh?
The Fanvil X303 and Grandstream GRP2601 are the reliable low end, around ৳4,500 to ৳7,000. Below that you are buying second-hand or unbranded phones, and the time you lose to problems costs more than the saving.
Do IP phones work with any provider?
Any SIP desk phone from Yealink, Grandstream, Fanvil, Cisco, or Polycom works with IPCallBD and with other SIP-based Cloud PBX providers. Avoid phones locked to a specific operator.
Does an IP phone need its own internet line?
No. It shares the office broadband. A call uses about 100 Kbps, so even a 5 Mbps connection handles several calls. What matters more is stable latency, which is why we recommend a cable rather than Wi-Fi for desk phones.
Can I use a normal telephone with Cloud PBX?
Yes, through an analogue telephone adapter such as the Grandstream HT801. The analogue phone plugs into the adapter, and the adapter registers to your extension like any IP phone.
Will the phone keep working during load-shedding?
If the phone is PoE-powered from a switch on a UPS and your router is on the same UPS, yes. Otherwise, calls fall back to the Zoiper app on a mobile, or to a forwarding number you set in the PBX.
